Blake Tanberk started playing bass at the age of twelve. Throughout his life, he has continued to pursue his passion for music through constant study and exploration. In 2009 he earned a B.M. in Bass Performance from McNally Smith College. There he studied under the talents of Sean Turner, Jay Young, Jeff Bailey, and Gary Raynor. His education and experience has lead him to be well versed in various genres and techniques. Some of his favorite styles to play are R n’ B, Rock, Funk, Latin, Jazz, and Reggae. Besides the electric & upright bass, Blake also plays the piano and guitar. He once was an active scratch DJ when he lived in Denver, and still DJ’s today.

Some of the great Twin Cities artists that Blake has played with are Skittish, Higher Ground, Sarah Morris, the Devon Worley Band, Ben Cook-Feltz, and Cassondra Lea Meyer. He is currently playing with funk/rock/hip-hop group Sonically Speaking, the funk/jazz group Groove Street, and the rock/original group Blue Ribbon Bandits. He also plays every Sunday at Gethsemane Church in Maplewood.
